Studies on the Copper Accumulation in Apple Orchards

Abstract
Studies were made to investigate the distribution of copper in leaves, fruits, and soils of apple orchards. Exchangeable copper was much more accumulated at surface soils(0¡15§¯) as compared with the subsoils(15¡60§¯). Average content of Cu at surface soils was detected 78.9 ppm, whereas 25.4 ppm at 15¡30§¯, 14.0 ppm at 30¡60§¯ in subsoils determined, respectively. Cu content in soils was markedly increased as increasing of the age of tree. Clay loam soils were found more copper accumulation than the sandy loam soils. Ca content in leaves showed 56.7 ppm on June 24, and 102.2 ppm on September 24 in 1977. Cu content in the peel of apple was abruptly increased from June(8.7 ppm) to August(40.4ppm), but Cu declined by 22.4 ppm on September 24. On the other hand, Cu in flesh showed slightly increased. Cu content in fruits which were produced at clay loam soils was more contained than that of the sandy loam soils.
